Document GP-DOC-21: Economy
Lands and Recovery
A land is a parcel deed issued by Genopool Industries: an instanced plot equipped with recovery stalls where your specimens rest between engagements. A resting specimen recharges its Vitality faster.
The single most important sentence in this chapter:
A rested specimen recovers faster. It never runs faster.
Vitality recharges for free, everywhere, for everyone (a full gauge takes hours, not days). Vitality is a participation gate - below 20 percent a creature cannot enter a free race or an expedition - and it is never a performance modifier. A land buys recovery time, which is comfort. It does not buy the gate, the entry cost, or a single millisecond of race time. Prized races normalize the state at the start line regardless.
Resting and racing
A specimen resting on a land cannot enter races. Withdraw it from its stall first - withdrawing is free and keeps every bit of recovery gained so far. There is no automatic recall: resting is a deliberate state, and so is racing. The Stable window shows every resting specimen under its land, one Withdraw away from the starting grid. (Expeditions keep the older convenience: engaging a resting companion recalls it automatically, free of charge.)
Types and sizes
| Type | Coverage | Stalls | How you get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Biome land (10 types) | one canon biome | 5 | Supply Depot, weekly rotation |
| Event land | one canon biome | 9 | limited event windows at the Depot |
| Genesis land | all ten biomes | 12 | Genesis founder pack only - never re-issued |
Recovery speed depends on species affinity: a specimen resting on a land that matches its endemic biome recharges at the fast rate; any other pairing recharges at the standard boosted rate (still faster than resting nowhere). The Genesis land grants the fast rate to every species. Exact multipliers are placeholders under calibration and are published in the game config.
The weekly rotation
The Supply Depot sells lands at a fixed, known price - like everything bought with USDC in GENOPOOL, a known good at a known price, nothing random. The offer rotates deterministically: two biomes per week, cycling through all ten biomes every five weeks. The rotation is a pure function of the calendar week, so the shop you see is exactly the shop the server enforces, and everyone can predict when their biome comes back.
Visit permits
Every land carries a visit permit: a short code (GP-XXXX-XXXX) that is not the
NFT address. Anyone holding the code can visit the land as a shared multiplayer
instance - walk around, see the resting specimens and their plaques, meet other
visitors. Visiting is social; only the owner can place or recall specimens.
Teleporting to a land is free.
The listing rule
Lands are tradeable on the Transfer Registry, with the same 5 percent royalty enforced at the asset level as specimen sheets. One strict rule applies in both directions:
- a land with any specimen resting on it cannot be listed - recall them first;
- a listed land cannot take new resting specimens - cancel the listing first.
If a land changes hands outside the native registry (any external marketplace), the resting specimens of the previous owner are released the next time the parcel is resolved - their recovery up to that point is kept.
What lands are not
- Not a shortcut: lands sit outside the world graph and never replace travel or clearances.
- Not a power item: no stat, no time, no race outcome is affected - the sentinel test suite enforces this structurally.
- Not purchasable with Field Scrip: lands are USDC goods; Scrip never buys anything tradeable.
